An Old Memory of a New Friend

Bob

Last summer we discovered 'Bob' in our backyard near the swing set. He quickly became a favorite, albeit new, friend of both The Princess and The Pea. Naturally a portrait was in order, and now, months later as I look back I'm glad we have it, not just so I have a photo fit for this week's photo hunt, no I'm thankful I took this picture because it's a visual prompt of the memory. A prompter of a memory of many long lazy days spent building houses and pools and whole neighborhoods for 'Bob'. It's a prompter of a memory that prompts memories; memories of spending my childhood in that exact same way - and there is nothing more precious than that correlation. It's a little reassurance when you're bringing kids up in a world so different from the one you knew at their age.

Meet, Bob. A New Friend.

When I was a kid my grandfather would take me on "frog hunts" after dark with flashlights and a big green bucket. Frogs upon frogs!! It's something I'll never forget.

Way to make those memories mom!
